How it works

From a 2-minute check to weekly check-ins. A doctor makes every medical decision, a pharmacy dispenses any medicine, and we help you turn the plan into habits.

  1. Take the 2-minute check

Tell us what you need help with and answer a few questions. You'll see straight away whether a programme may suit you.

  2. Book a video consult

Pick a time with an HPCSA-registered doctor. The consult fee is paid to the practice.

  3. Agree a plan

You and your doctor decide what happens next. If you join, your membership starts now, not before.

  4. Check in, adjust, repeat

Weekly or monthly check-ins with your coach, and doctor reviews on a set schedule.

Each step in detail

1. The 2-minute check

The check asks about your goal, your age and a few health questions. For weight, it works out your BMI. For injuries, it looks for warning signs that mean you should be seen in person today.

It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or stored, so you can't be contacted because of it.

2. Your video consult

Consults last about 30 minutes, by video on your phone or computer. You'll see your doctor's name and HPCSA registration number before you book, and you can check it on the HPCSA public register.

Your doctor takes a full history, the same as in a rooms visit, and may ask for blood tests or an in-person examination. Our guide to your first online consult explains how to prepare.

3. Your plan

If treatment includes a prescription, your doctor sends it to a registered pharmacy. Our partner pharmacy can deliver to you, or you can use any pharmacy you prefer. You pay the pharmacy directly.

Your coach then helps you choose the first few habits to work on. Small and specific beats big and vague: "protein at breakfast" lasts longer than "eat better".

4. Check-ins and reviews

Your coach checks in on WhatsApp. If something sounds medical, such as side effects, new symptoms or a big change in how you feel, your coach passes it to your doctor rather than answering it.

Your doctor reviews your progress on a schedule that depends on your programme: monthly for weight, at the start and end of recovery, and quarterly for longevity.

Who does what

Three separate jobs, done by the people licensed to do them.

Your doctor

An independent, HPCSA-registered practice

  • Consults with you by video
  • Makes every medical decision, including whether you need medicine
  • Keeps your medical record
  • Is paid per consult, never per prescription

The pharmacy

An SAPC-registered pharmacy

  • Checks and dispenses anything your doctor prescribes
  • Delivers to your door, or you use your own pharmacy
  • Bills you directly at regulated prices

BettaHabit

Coaching, the plan, and four supplements

  • Runs the check, the bookings and your membership
  • Turns your doctor's plan into habits, and checks in with you
  • Passes anything medical to your doctor
  • Never sells medicines
